NFL Playoffs 2022 - Conference Championships

By Thomas Kaunzner

After another weekend of exciting playoff football we finally know which two teams will play in Super Bowl LVI on 13 February 2022.

In the AFC the Cincinnati Bengals overcame an 11-point deficit at halftime and a lost overtime coin flip to beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 OT at Arrowhead Stadium.

It is Cincinnati’s first appearance in a Super Bowl since January 1989 and only their third on the biggest stage in American Football. On the previous two occasions they lost against the San Francisco 49ers in 1982 and 1989.

In the NFC the Los Angeles Rams ended their six-game losing streak against the San Francisco 49ers with a 20-17 win at home.

Super Bowl 56 will be the Rams’ second trip to the NFL Final in the last four years and their fifth in total. Their only win, incidentally as the St. Louis Rams, came in January 2000 against the Tennessee Titans.

It is the second consecutive year that a team literally hosts the Super Bowl. The game will take place at SoFi Stadium, the home field of the Los Angeles Rams.
