The New York Mets (28-33) win at the Atlanta Braves (27-35) 2-1 in game four of their series.

The Mets got an early run in the first inning. LF Michael Conforto led off with a double and advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt by CF Juan Lagares. 1B Wilmer Flores followed with a sacrifice fly ball, driving in Michael Conforto for a 1-0 lead.

Atlanta’s tying run in the second was almost a copy of New York’s score. C Tyler Flowers doubled to lead off the inning and moved to third base on a groundout from 3B Johan Camargo. SS Dansby Swanson hit a sacrifice fly ball next, enabling Tyler Flowers to come home for a score of 1-1.

The Mets regained the lead in the third inning. SP Seth Lugo hit a one-out double and advanced to third base on a groundout by Michael Conforto. Juan Lagares followed with an infield single and drove in Seth Lugo for the go-ahead run.

Atlanta’s SP Jaime Garcia (2-5) looked to be in trouble in the fourth when the Mets loaded the bases but he managed to pitch himself out of it without surrendering a run. He went 7 innings, giving up 7 hits, 2 walks and 2 earned runs while fanning 9. He now has a 3.16 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP on the season.

Seth Lugo (1-0) made his season debut after being activated from the 60-day disabled list yesterday to make this start. He wound up pitching 7 innings, allowing 6 hits, 2 walks and 1 earned run while striking out 6. Considering today’s outing went well, Seth Lugo will likely replace SP Robert Gsellman in the rotation.

CL Addison Reed pitched a spotless ninth to earn his 11th save of the year. He now has a 2.70 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP to show for this season.

The New York Mets return home to host a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs (30-31) from Monday to Wednesday.

The Atlanta Braves go on the road to play a three-game series at the Washington Nationals (38-23) from Monday through Wednesday.
