49ers sign Elvis Dumervil

The San Francisco 49ers signed LB Elvis Dumervil to a two-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 33-year old pass rusher suffered from a foot injury last season and appeared in only eight games, recording 11 total tackles and 3.0 sacks for the Baltimore Ravens.

In his 10 seasons with the Denver Broncos and Ravens Elvis Dumervil accumulated 354 total tackles, 23 forced fumbles and 99.0 sacks.

Elvis Dumervil is expected to become San Francisco’s weakside pass rusher in HC Kyle Shanahan’s 4-3 system and help a defense that ranked at the bottom of the league in 2016.

Jets release Quinton Patton

The New York Jets released WR Quinton Patton from IR with an injury settlement.

Gang Green acquired the 26-year old on 23 March and placed him on IR with an undisclosed injury four days ago.

Quinton Patton spent his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, recording a total of 73 catches for 880 yards and 1 touchdown. Last year he had 37 receptions for 408 yards; both were career-highs. Quinton Patton ended up on IR with a foot injury at the end of last season.

Once healthy, teams in need of a receiver or kick returner will bring him in for competition.

Patriots and Julian Edelman agree on Contract Extension

The New England Patriots and WR Julian Edelman agreed on a two-year extension worth $11 million with $9 million guaranteed. Additionally, the deal includes a $5 million signing bonus and $4 million in incentives.

The 31-year old spent his entire NFL career with the New England Patriots and enters his ninth season as a pro.

Last year Julian Edelman caught 98 passes for 1,106 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Known for his drops, Julian Edelman is nonetheless one of the league’s most effective slot receivers and a favorite target for QB Tom Brady.

Julian Edelman is a two-time Super Bowl champion and made a spectacular catch last season when the Patriots came from behind to beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime.
