Steelers cut Ladarius Green

The Pittsburgh Steelers cut TE Ladarius Green after one season. Signed to a four-year, $20 million deal last year, the Steelers must allocate $3.5 million of their salary cap space for this move.

The 26-year old appeared in six games last season, catching 18 passes for 304 yards and 1 touchdown.

Despite his massive talent, Ladarius Green was in TE Antonio Gates’ shadow while playing for the San Diego Chargers and suffered ankle and head injuries as a Pittsburgh Steeler. In fact, Ladarius Green has yet to be cleared from the league’s concussion protocol.

TE Jesse James, who had a good playoff run last year, will likely become Pittsburgh’s starter in 2017.

Buccaneers add Ryan Fitzpatrick to Roster

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year contract worth $3 million plus incentives.

The 34-year old started for the New York Jets last season, completing 56.6% of his passes for 2,710 yards. He also threw 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, leaving him with a passer rating of 69.6.

The Bucs, who are making a serious serious playoff push in 2017, needed a veteran to back up QB Jameis Winston after QB Mike Glennon left to join the Chicago Bears.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and QB Ryan Griffin will battle for the number two spot on the depth chart.
