Bears release Eddie Royal

The Chicago Bears released WR Eddie Royal after two seasons, saving the team $5 million in salary.

The 31-year old veteran caught 70 passes for 607 yards and 3 touchdowns since joining the Bears in 2015. He also missed 14 games due to injury.

In his first NFL season, Eddie Royal amassed 980 yards on 91 receptions for the Denver Broncos. Both are franchise records for a rookie.

Given his susceptibility to injury, Eddie Royal’s career in the NFL may have come to an end.

Patriots re-sign David Andrews

The New England Patriots and C David Andrews agreed to a three-year extension worth $9 million.

The 24-year old joined the Patriots in 2015 as an undrafted free agent and started in 27 of the 30 games he’s played for the Super Bowl champion.

David Andrews is a solid player and New England obviously believes in the positive development of the center out of Georgia.
