Indians hold on to win at Tigers

The Cleveland Indians (15-12) hold on to win at the Detroit Tigers (14-13) 3-2 in game three of their four-game series.

Cleveland took a decisive lead in the fourth. SS Francisco Lindor and LF Michael Brantley hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. 3B Jose Ramirez tripled with one out and drove in the first two runs of the game.

2B Jason Kipnis followed with a sacrifice flyball, driving Jose Ramirez home to put the Indians up 3-0.

Detroit scored their first run in the fifth inning. CF Tyler Collins drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second base on a flyout by C Alex Avila. RF Jim Adduci singled next and batted Tyler Collins in.

The Tigers added another run in the sixth. 3B Nicholas Castellanos doubled to lead off the inning and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. He eventually came home on a one-out sacrifice flyball by DH Victor Martinez.

CL Cody Allen gave up two walks but managed to earn his seventh save of the season. He posts a 0.82 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP this year.

Cleveland’s SP Carlos Carrasco (3-2) worked 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 walk and 2 earned runs while fanning 5. He has an impressive 2.18 ERA with a 0.82 WHIP on the season.

Detroit’s SP Matthew Boyd (2-2) pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 5 hits, 3 walks and 3 earned runs while striking out 4. He now has a 3.78 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP on the year.

Jose Ramirez went 1-for-2 with 1 run and 2 RBI. He is batting .323 and has 15 runs, 6 HR and 23 RBI this season.
