SP Dallas Keuchel pitches a complete game as the Houston Astros (14-6) win at the Cleveland Indians (10-9) 4-2 in the opener of their three-game series. Houston has now won five of their last six games.

Dallas Keuchel (4-0) was dominant, quick and efficient in his fifth start of the season. He threw 117 pitches, allowing 6 hits, 3 walks and 2 earned runs while striking out 5. He now has a 1.22 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP to show for this year.

Cleveland’s CF Austin Jackson opened the score with a one-out home run in the third inning. It was his first homer of the season.

The Astros turned the game into their favor in the top of the fifth. 1B Yuli Gurriel and DH Evan Gattis hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. RF Nori Aoki followed with a double, driving home Yuli Gurriel to tie the game.

CF Josh Reddick singled next and drove in Evan Gattis and Nori Aoki to put the Astros up 3-1.

Josh Reddick also made a spectacular run-saving catch in the bottom of the inning to deny 2B Jason Kipnis a home run.

Houston’s 2B Jose Altuve and RF Teoscar Hernandez collided in the eighth inning while chasing a fly ball. Jose Altuve is day-to-day after a concussion has been ruled out. Teoscar Hernandez, who had to be carted off the field, has been initially diagnosed with a bruised left knee and will likely undergo an MRI.

The Astros added an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Evan Gattis was hit by a pitch with one out. Nori Aoki followed with an infield single but a throwing error by C Yan Gomes enabled both runners to advance one base each.

Josh Reddick singled next and Evan Gattis came home to give Houston a 4-1 lead.

Cleveland’s LF Michael Brantley hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the frame for the final run of the game.

SP Josh Tomlin (1-3) pitched 6 innings for Cleveland, giving up 8 hits and 3 earned runs while fanning 6. He lowered his ERA and WHIP to 9.33 and 1.75, respectively.
