Mark Trumbo Walk-Off Home Run downs Diamondbacks

RF Mark Trumbo homers in the 12th inning as the Baltimore Orioles (83-71) come from behind to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks (64-89) in the opener of their three-game series.

Arizona took an early lead in the first inning. 1B Paul Goldschmidt walked with two outs and advanced to third base on a single from C Welington Castillo. 3B Jake Lamb followed with a double and drove in Paul Goldschmidt for the first run of the game.

The Diamondbacks scored again in the second frame. LF Brandon Drury hit a leadoff double and came home on a two-out double from 2B Jean Segura.

Baltimore tied the game with a two-out home run from DH Pedro Alvarez in the eighth and a leadoff homer by C Matt Wieters in the ninth inning. RP Daniel Hudson blew his second save of the year in the process.

Mark Trumbo finally ended the game with a leadoff home run in the 12th inning.

Arizona’s SP Shelby Miller pitched 6 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3. His ERA and WHIP improved to 6.47 and 1.70, respectively.

Baltimore’s SP Yovani Gallardo worked 6 innings, giving up 6 hits, 2 walks and 2 earned runs while fanning 5. He has a 5.63 ERA with a 1.62 WHIP on the season.

Mark Trumbo went 2-for-5 with 1 run, 1 HR and 1 RBI. He is batting .247 and has 88 runs, 44 HR and 103 RBI this year.
