Texas Rangers sweep Kansas City Royals

The Texas Rangers complete a four-game series sweep with a 5-3 win over the Kansas City Royals.
The Royals scored first with a two-out home run by 1B Eric Hosmer in the top of the first inning. Texas, however, responded straight away.
CF Delino DeShields singled to lead off the bottom of the frame and RF Nomar Mazara homered him in to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead.
Texas extended their lead in the fourth inning. DH Adrian Beltre led off with a single and 1B Mitch Moreland homered with one out to put the Rangers up 4-1.
The Royals cut the deficit to one run in the fifth. C Drew Butera hit a leadoff homer for Kansas City’s second run of the game. CF Jarrod Dyson followed with a walk and stole second as well as third base with one out. SS Alcides Escobar singled next and drove him in.
It was Texas’ turn to score the final run of the game. Mitch Moreland singled to lead off the seventh inning. With one out he moved to second base on a wild pitch. 3B Hanser Alberto eventually drove him home with a double.
CL Sam Dyson pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 22nd save of the year. He posts a 2.42 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP on the season.
Kansas City’s SP Dillon Gee (3-5) pitched 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 1 walk and 4 earned runs while fanning 4. He now has a 4.66 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP this year.
SP Lucas Harrell (1-0) won his first start with the Rangers. He worked 6 innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 walks and 3 earned runs while striking out 2.
Mitch Moreland went 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 1 HR and 2 RBI. He is batting .249 and has 36 runs, 18 HR and 46 RBI on the year.
The Kansas City Royals (49-55) continue their road trip with a four-game series at the Tampa Bay Rays (42-61) from Monday to Thursday.
The Texas Rangers (62-44) travel to the Baltimore Orioles (59-45) to play a three-game series from Tuesday through Thursday.
