Rockies rally to Victory over Braves

The Colorado Rockies (42-48) come from behind to win at the Atlanta Braves (31-60) 4-3 in game two of their three-game series.

The Braves were off to a good start, scoring two runs in the second inning. CF Ender Inciarte doubled with two outs and C A.J. Pierzynski drove him in with his first homer of the season.

Ender Inciarte scored Atlanta’s third run of the game in the seventh inning. He drew a leadoff walk and moved to second base on an infield single by A.J. Pierzynski. Inciarte advanced to third base when SS Erick Aybar grounded into double play and came home on a single by SP Mike Foltynewicz.

Colorado tied the game in the eighth. LF Ryan Raburn opened the inning with a single and 1B Mark Reynolds followed with a walk. C Nick Hundley singled next and drove in Ryan Raburn.

Mark Reynolds moved to third base on a flyout by PH Christhian Adames and came home after a wild pitch from RP Hunter Cervenka. Nick Hundley advanced to second base on the play.

2B DJ LeMahieu followed with an infield single and Nick Hundley was able to cross home plate on a throwing error by Gordon Beckham to tie the game at three runs apiece.

One inning later, Colorado scored the game-winning run. SS Trevor Story led off with a single and advanced to second and third base on two wild pitches from RP Jim Johnson. He came home when Mark Reynolds reached on fielder’s choice as Erick Aybar committed a throwing error to home plate.

CL Carlos Estevez pitched a perfect inning to earn his fifth save of the season. He now posts a 4.18 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP.

Colorado’s SP Chad Bettis worked 6.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 3 walks and 3 earned runs while fanning 7. He now has a 5.55 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP on the season.

Mike Foltynewicz pitched 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 walks and 3 earned runs while striking out 5. His ERA and WHIP are now at 3.70 and 1.18, respectively.
