The Milwaukee Brewers (35-42) shut out the Los Angeles Dodgers (43-37) as they win 7-0 in game two of their three-game series.
Milwaukee set their sights on a win in the second inning. With one out 1B Chris Carter and 3B Aaron Hill hit back-to-back singles and CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis drove them in with a three-run homer.
With two outs, the Brewers went on to load the bases with back-to-back singles from SP Junior Guerra and SS Jonathan Villar and a walk from 2B Scooter Gennett. LF Ryan Braun doubled, driving home Junior Guerra and Jonathan Villar to give Milwaukee a 5-0 lead.
Milwaukee scored another two runs in the seventh inning. With one out, Jonathan Villar reached first base on an infield single and Ryan Braun hit his 13th home run of the year to put the Brewers up 7-0.
Los Angeles’ SP Brock Stewart (0-1) made his MLB debut, pitching 5 innings. He allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and 5 earned runs while striking out 7. He starts his career with a 9.00 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP.
Milwaukee’s Junior Guerra (5-1) worked 8 scoreless innings, giving up 2 hits and 2 walks while fanning 7. His ERA and WHIP improved to 3.25 and 1.07, respectively.
Ryan Braun went 2-for-4 with 1 run, 1 HR and 4 RBI. He is batting .325 on the season and has 34 runs, 13 HR and 44 RBI.
