Angels cruise to Victory behind Tim Lincecum

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (30-38) pull away in the sixth to cruise to a 7-1 win at the Oakland A’s (28-40) in game two of their three-game series.
Oakland was the first team on the scoreboard. RF Billy Burns hit a one-out single in the third inning and went on to steal second base with two outs. 3B Danny Valencia drove him in with a single to give the A’s a 1-0 lead.
CF Mike Trout and 2B Johnny Giavotella responded with solo home runs in the fourth to put the Angels up 2-1.
Oakland’s SP Andrew Triggs, who made his MLB debut as a starter, was relieved after surrendering the long ball to Mike Trout. He was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to start today, though he is thought to rejoin the bullpen anytime soon. In three innings of work Andrew Triggs allowed 3 hits, 1 earned run and struck out 1. He now has a 7.29 ERA with a 1.52 WHIP.
The Angels broke the game wide open in the sixth inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs.
DH Albert Pujols and 1B C.J. Cron opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Johnny Giavotella hit into fielder’s choice at second base and advanced Albert Pujols to third. SS Andrelton Simmons followed with a sacrifice flyball and brought Albert Pujols home for Los Angeles’ third run.
The Angels went on to load the bases with a double by C Carlos Perez and a walk to LF Shane Robinson. 3B Yunel Escobar drove in Johnny Giavotella and Carlos Perez with a single to put the Angels ahead 5-1.
Los Angeles loaded the bases again after RF Kole Calhoun drew a walk. Mike Trout followed with a double, bringing Shane Robinson and Yunel Escobar home for the final score of 7-1.
SP Tim Lincecum (1-0) was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to make his highly anticipated debut for the Angels. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 walks and 1 earned run while striking out 2.
Mike Trout went 2-for-5 with 1 run, 1 HR and 3 RBI. He is batting .302 this season and has 47 runs, 14 HR and 47 RBI.
