The Detroit Tigers (30-28) come from two runs down to beat the Toronto Blue Jays (31-29) 3-2 in extra innings.

CF Kevin Pillar scored Toronto’s first run with a leadoff homer in the fifth inning. It was his third long ball of the season.

The Blue Jays doubled their lead in the seventh. Kevin Pillar singled to lead off the inning and advanced to third base on another single from SS Darwin Barney. RF Jose Bautista followed with a hit into fielder’s choice, driving in Kevin Pillar for the 2-0 lead.

Toronto threatened to score more runs in the top of the ninth inning. RP Bobby Parnell pitched himself into trouble by loading the bases but got out of it unscathed.

Blue Jays’ SP Aaron Sanchez returned to the mound in the bottom of the frame to attempt a complete game. Sanchez cruised through eight innings, throwing only 93 pitches and allowing one hit.

SS Jose Iglesias hit a leadoff single and came home on a double from 2B Ian Kinsler. Toronto’s manager John Gibbons decided to pull Aaron Sanchez in favor of CL Roberto Osuna to safe the win.

CF Andrew Romine laid down a beautifully executed sacrifice bunt to move Ian Kinsler to third base. Up next was 1B Miguel Cabrera. Roberto Osuna tried to intimidate him by throwing a pitch that missed the slugger’s head by inches.

Miggy Cabrera kept his composure and doubled two pitches later to drive in Ian Kinsler for the tying run.

In the next inning Detroit clinched the win. They loaded the bases with a leadoff single from LF Justin Upton, a walk to C Jarrod Saltalamacchia and a bunt by Jose Iglesias. Ian Kinsler followed and hit a single, batting in the game-winning run by Justin Upton.
