The Los Angeles Dodgers come back from three runs down to win at the Atlanta Braves 5-3 in extra innings.

The Braves had five hitters with a batting average of below .200 in the lineup but Dodgers SP Ross Stripling had to work hard to get outs. It came as no surprise that Atlanta took the lead eventually.

With two outs 3B Daniel Castro stole second base in the bottom of the third inning. C A.J. Pierzynski got his 1,995th career hit and batted Castro in for the first run of the game.

With two outs and the bases loaded Daniel Castro drove in two more runs in the fourth inning to give the Braves a 3-0 lead.

The Dodgers decided to relieve Stripling after 3.2 innings. Los Angeles’ bullpen retired the next ten batters without giving up a hit.

Ross Stripling threw 76 pitches, allowing 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. His ERA is 2.65 on the season with a WHIP of 1.06.

Los Angeles’ comeback started in the fifth inning. LF Howie Kendrick singled to right field but an error by RF Nick Markakis enabled him to reach third base. CF Joc Pederson’s following single drove Kendrick home for Los Angeles’ first run of the night.

Atlanta’s SP Julio Teheran was relieved after a one-out single in the sixth inning. This change backfired immediately when 1B Adrian Gonzalez hit a two-run homer to tie the score.

Teheran gave up 6 hits and struck out 3. He has a 5.64 ERA and 1.39 WHIP after four starts.

Both bullpens dominated the next three innings and the ballgame went to extra innings.

At 37 years of age 2B Chase Utley showed that he isn’t slowing down any time soon. He hit a single in the top of the tenth inning and stole second base soon afterwards. SS Corey Seager walked and 3B Justin Turner hit a double that drove in Chase Utley for the go-ahead run and advanced Turner to third base.

Following an intentional walk to Adrian Gonzalez and a strikeout by RF Yasiel Puig the Braves turned to RP Alexi Ogando. C Yasmani Grandal hit a single and Corey Seager crossed home plate for a 5-3 lead.

CL Kenley Jansen had an easy 1-2-3 out to earn his 6th save of the season.
