The New York Mets keep their opponent scoreless as they beat the Cleveland Indians 6-0 to win the three-game series.

The Mets jumped on SP Corey Kluber early on and took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Kluber had command problems with his fastball and the Mets took full advantage of the opportunity.

Leadoff hitter RF Curtis Granderson walked, SS Asdrubal Cabrera singled and LF Michael Conforto drove in one run. 1B Lucas Duda batted two more runs in before the side was retired.

Kluber looked more comfortable in the second inning and seemed to record an easy 1-2-3 out but the Mets still managed to score three runs thanks to several miscues by the Indians.

Granderson hit a two-out triple because Cleveland’s CF Rajai Davis lost track of the ball in the sun. He scored his second run of the day as Cabrera reached first base on a clever bunt and a throwing error by Kluber. Conforto hit his second RBI double and reached home plate moments later on another Rajai Davis incident with the sun.

Cleveland’s ace pitched six innings, allowing 9 hits, 1 walk and striking out 8. Kluber is now 0-3 on the season with a 6.16 ERA and 1.42 WHIP.

New York’s SP Steven Matz (1-1) pitched 7 scoreless innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 walks and recording 9 strikeouts. He lowered his ERA and WHIP to 7.27 and 1.50, respectively.

Michael Conforto went 2-for-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. He is batting .313 this season and has 5 runs, 1 home run and 6 RBI.

The Mets (5-6) next play a three-game series at the Philadelphia Phillies (5-7) from Monday to Wednesday. The Cleveland Indians (5-5) have a rest day tomorrow before they host the Seattle Mariners (5-7) for a three-game series from Tuesday to Thursday.
